I just love the colour of pumpkins and all that autumn brings. Having grown up in a warm, sunny climate I love everything autumn. Having an autumn wardrobe was not something I ever had until moving to Europe. Being able to transition from summer to winter with a nice little in-between season seems so decadent! This season it’s all about the rich berry red of our moccasins and the gorgeous orange and browns of Mr Frederick Francis Foxington, aka Freddie Fox.
Legwarmers and leggings are being packed and shipped off to keep little legs warm while out hunting for conkers and picking your own pumpkin. It is so much fun being out in the field watching the littlest sprogs trying to pick up the biggest pumpkin known to man. And watching parents trying to steer them towards a more normal sized pumpkin! Simply putting ‘pumpkin picking near me’ in your search bar will give you a list of local venues and I can highly recommend. We went along to Secrets and Crockford Bridge Farm and both were amazing. Muddy and messy but such good fun.
We are off to a Halloween party and plans are underway in our house as to what face painting is needed. My daughter wants to go as a cat complete with leopard print while my son wants some gruesome face wound – gone are the days of cute little witches and a Harry Potter scar! If you are looking for a ‘how to’ guide for face painting, then Snazaroo has a beginner’s guide. It covers everything from cheeky skeletons to rainbow pumpkins. If your little one has sensitive skin and you are avoiding face paint then hair chalk is a good way to add a bit of colour without the risk of rashes to skin. It’s always really lovely opening the door to all the little ones dressed-up and seeing all the pumpkin and bat babygro’s coming out.
It seems that the trend for Unicorns and the growing popularity of rainbows is not slowing down. Every shop has the most adorable unicorn adorned clothes and accessories. At Dotty Fish we love a little bit of colour and magic. We are very excited about our new Dreamy Unicorn Leggings that have just come into stock. These adorable leggings have the most magical unicorn on the nappy area. They also have fun colourful stripes and starry cloud legs. Perfect for keeping your little princesses warm and toasty this winter. The quirky stripes and clouds are colourful which adds to the rainbow feel.
If you are looking for a more striking rainbow design, then our Rainbow Stripe Legwarmers are perfect. These bright legwarmers work for both boys and girls and can be worn either pulled up or scrunched at the ankles. The stretchy cotton mix legwarmers are suitable for babies and children right up to the age of 4 years. They also work well with our bright cotton bandana bibs.
So now to the tinsel… if you are starting your Christmas shopping then what better than getting some gorgeous suede slippers. The super soft fleece lining will keep little toes snug and warm. We are very excited to announce our new Soft Pink and Pale Grey slippers have launched just in time for winter. These two new colours are to complement our existing Tan, Navy and Dark Pink suede slippers. The tan and navy go up to size 4-5 years.
We know that slippers are a popular choice for Christmas, so we are sending them out in one of our gift boxes until the end of October. Our moccasins are also being sent out in a complementary gift box.
If you are looking for a lovely Christmas gift then we have taken the stress out of arranging this for you. Our boxed gift sets have been put together with a selection of complementary Dotty Fish items. Each gift set includes our soft leather baby shoes as well as either leggings or tag blankets and bibs. Our lovely ladies in the office take special care when preparing them and they come beautifully presented in our gift box. For Christmas we have 2 specific boxes, Rudolph the Reindeer and Percy Penguin.
If you are sending a gift but don’t want to send one of our ready-made gift sets you can select our Gift Wrap options at check-out. Each item will be wrapped up with care and sent to the address of your choice.

We recently had Mental Health Day. It was lovely to see the community of parents that we have become part of pull together on social media. People where openly talking about the struggles we often go through. It was so inspiring reading the stories of encouragement and support and the honesty that was shared.
As the nights get darker and the magic of Christmas starts to take hold it can sometimes be hard to keep remembering that we need to take time for ourselves. We need to be kind to ourselves and each other. The best Halloween party is one where friends come together and laugh not the one with the most impressive decorations. The best Christmas is one in which we cherish each other rather than rush around falling into the trap of feeling out of control and pressured to buy, buy, buy. Social Media shows a snapshot, it isn’t always the reality, but this can sometimes be forgotten. We hope that you get chance to sit down, slow down and enjoy the simple moments in life.
Have a lovely October and November,
The Dotty Fish Team
